Candelle Nestor
Candelle is a design romantic who fell into design by a desire to find a better way to solve problems. Her introduction to design came from the world of lean design and social start-ups, firstly setting up her own business in Brazil and then working with social tech start-ups here in Perth. With over 10 years in the field, Candelle has now worked on a variety of technology projects across public, private and community organisations. Her approach to design is to challenge herself to leave the organisation, project or community in a better position than when she started, always looking for opportunities to challenge how things are done and create space to do more. Candelle believes that all systems are perfectly designed to create whatever outcome they are producing and thus the secret to good design and creating meaningful change is to first understand the system. She is far from a design purist and is very comfortable applying the best tools to get the best outcome. As a design practitioner and lecturer, Candelle’s design superpowers are strategy, research and participatory design methods. Candelle spends her spare time reading, hiking and finding new ways to expand her consciousness.
