Preventing Disability Dongles

Half-day Workshop, Tuesday 27 August (afternoon) - buy tickets here

Preventing Disability Dongles is a workshop designed to address the phenomenon of "Disability Dongles" in the context of critical thinking; specifically in the evaluation of work addressing the topic of disability or disabled users. So what is a Disability Dongle? It's a well-intended, yet useless—or even harmful—solution to a problem disabled people never knew we always had.

Disability Dongles are exacerbated by the exclusion of disabled people from design processes, which leads to solutions that position disability as a problem to be solved rather than a valuable perspective.
Participants will exit the workshop with skills and tools to better evaluate disability products and media, with robust criteria for assessing the thought process and effectiveness of a presented design solution.
